Two years of Inserts

Wncartar has become our mission since we started this editorial project. Since 2018 we have been motivated to string together essays, reviews, interviews, dialogues and discussions by innovating the design of innovative and more interactive platforms and forms of interaction that broaden audiences and enable us. We are very pleased to have reached more than 30 thousand visitors and readers of our magazine. Although most of our users are Mexican, we have achieved presence in different countries in the Latin American region, the United States and Europe. In fact, Google analytics let us know that we are present in 101 countries, in all continents.

In this period of time we have inserted audiovisual languages to produce multi-code essays and articles (which we have been creating in the process of their publication) that intertwine the word with the image, the image with the sound, the voice with the writing. We have discovered that the fact of giving a place to the senses acquires a pedagogical mission to free the image from its continuous emptying of meanings produced by advertising. Instead our mission is to re-inscribe the thickness of culture in the image.

Encartar also suggests inserting frontier issues into a formal academic journal, caThe first issue published has opened up new commitments for us. The first called for the relevance of anthropology in a world increasingly oriented to the right; the second called for the relevance of anthropology in a world increasingly oriented to the right. secThe third issue made us more aware of the need to analyze the image and to inscribe it in dialogical and horizontal processes that deconstruct it.l. The issue five that we publish here allows us to include a dossier on the different modalities of urban mobilization coordinated by Christian Omar Grimaldo. That is why we chose Julio Gonzalez's photograph for the cover, as it captures a crossroads where different logics, bodies and road cultures interact.
