Mission:

Encartes is a multimedia digital magazine in social sciences. It is an inter-institutional project with the participation of the Centro de Investigaciones y Estudios Superiores en Antropología Social (CIESAS), El Colegio de la Frontera Norte (El Colef), the Instituto Tecnológico de Estudios Superiores de Occidente (ITESO) and El Colegio de San Luis (COLSAN). The general objective is to publish articles and reviews that are the product of research and that contribute original results to this field. It is published every six months, publishing a non issue in spring and a couple of issues in autumn. A hallmark of Encartes is to disseminate research results in different audiovisual and multimedia formats; to encourage the publication of multi-code scientific essays, and to build a virtual space that generates forums for interdisciplinary debate. Its design, although novel, responds to CONAHCYT and international indexing indexes. The publication of articles is always subject to rigorous, scientific and impartial arbitration. Likewise, the journal has a forum for dialogue and scientific discussion with other disciplines and knowledge that seek the broad dissemination of scientific knowledge.

We believe that the new electronic platforms can and should be used to publish, incorporating innovative languages, genres and forms of interaction. Encartes integrates various ethnographic records to which anthropologists resort in their research processes, including audiovisual material (audio recordings, videos or photographs) that, when inserted, complement the material of the magazine.

Vision:

Encartes provides an alternative to existing Spanish-language social science journals by linking word and image in a novel effort to broaden the scope of academic dialogues and debates, which we consider to be sources of stimulus for the production of knowledge. We contemplate making use of contemporary technological offers to establish a bridge between academic generations of reading-writing and the production and reading of the image. When we include, we include, because dialogue must bring together all voices if it is to fulfill its purpose of opening and broadening the horizons of creation. It is with these purposes of including and accompanying that the magazine begins its journey.
