Christian Parker Gumucio is a Chilean sociologist who is a reference in the sociology of religion in Latin America. He has a doctorate in sociology from the Catholic University of Louvain and obtained his degree from the Catholic University of Chile; He is currently Vice-Rector for Postgraduate Studies and research professor at the Institute for Advanced Studies of the University of Santiago de Chile, of which he was also director. He has taught at different universities in Latin America and Europe; His extensive career consists of hundreds of articles, papers and conferences, and he is the author or co-author of more than twenty books. He has been an advisor to UNICEF, UNDP, CEPAL and FLACSO, in addition to various public and private organizations in Chile. His field of study has focused on the sociology of religion and culture, also entering the field of the sociology of science and technology; Lately he has researched questions about the sociology of development and the environment.
