Olga González Castañeda is an Associate Professor in the Department of Anthropology, participates in the Latin American Studies Program and is Vice Dean of the Kofi Annan Institute for Global Citizenship at Macalester College in Minnesota, USA. She is the author of Unveiling Secrets of War in the Peruvian Andes (University of Chicago Press, 2011). Her publications in both English and Spanish address issues related to memory, art and subjectivity in the context of political violence in Peru. She was a consultant for the exhibitions Weavings of War: Fabrics of Memory and Ayacucho: Tradition and Crisis in the Popular Art of Peru. In 2012 she curated the exhibition Ayacucho: The Times of Danger. Her current research focuses on memorialization projects in post-war Peru.
