John gledhill He is Emeritus Professor of Social Anthropology at the University of Manchester, a Fellow of the British Academy and the UK Academy of Social Sciences, and editor of the journal Critique of Anthropology. He has conducted ethnographic and historical studies in Brazil and Mexico. His most recent monographic books are The New War Against the Poor: The Production of Insecurity in Latin America (Zed, 2015) and The hidden face of insecurity in Mexico (Paidós, 2017), and as an organizer, World Anthropologies in Practice: Situated Perspectives, Global Knowledge (Bloomsbury, 2016) and Disputes around urban space: processes of [re] production / construction and appropriation of the city, with Maria Gabriela Hita and Mariano Perelman (Edufba, 2017).
