Eduardo Domenech He is a teacher-researcher at the Center for Advanced Studies of the Faculty of Social Sciences of the National University of Córdoba and the Center for Research and Studies on Culture and Society of the conicet, Argentina, where he directs the Migration and Mobility Program in Critical Perspective. He is currently directing the project "The South American regime of migration and borders: reconfigurations and disputes around the control of mobility" (2018-2021). His interests include the historical and socio-political production of migrant / migrant “illegality”, the practices and experiences of expulsion or deportation, and the (re) configuration of migration and mobility control policies in South America.

The crises that we are seeing in the Mediterranean, on the northern and southern border of Mexico or in South America, derived from the massive mobilizations of people fleeing their countries, force us to reflect on the role that the States in the face of the arrival and / or transit of displaced persons and refugees, in the face of what appears to be a regressive global policy, based on the externalization of borders, restriction and selectivity.
