Daniel Bertaux is research director emeritus of the Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique (CNRS) in France and of the Laboratoire Dynamiques Européennes at the University of Strasbourg. He worked in three other very prominent sociological research centers, directed by Pierre Bourdieu, Raymond Boudon and Alain Touraine; he also had very stimulating academic relations with German colleagues at the Frankfurt School. During the 1970s he developed with great interest “life histories”.”, approach presented at the 1978 International Sociological Association (ISA) World Congress in Uppsala.
